Support Veterans with a Donation to the ALA Poppy Program.
National Poppy Day is the Friday before Memorial Day.

American Legion Auxiliary members across the country distribute memorial poppies each year to provide a therapeutic activity for veterans, raise awareness and raise funds to directly assist disabled and hospitalized veterans and active duty service members and their families within our communities. Spearheaded by teacher Moina Michael, the In Flanders Fields poppy has become an internationally known and recognized symbol of the lives sacrificed in war and the hope that none died in vain.
Please help support & honor our veterans with your donation to the Auxiliary’s Poppy Program. 100% of your tax-deductible donations are used to support veterans and active duty service members and their families.
Unit 28 Poppy donations include, but are not limited to, providing support for:
  • Therapeutic fly fishing trips for veterans through Flyin’ Heroes
    (https://flyinheroes.org)
  • Respite for veterans suffering PTSD and other health issues through the American Legion’s Wilwin at Cygnet Cove (www.wilwin.org)
  • Daily necessities & activities for veteran residents at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans (https://www.michiganveterans.com)
  • Hospital Rehabilitation; Veteran Suicide Prevention
